Planning Commission Approves New Apartment Complexes

  • Monday, November 10, 2014

The Planning Commission on Monday recommended approval for two apartment complexes.

Bobby Adamson is planning 300 luxury apartments at Summit.

The Planning Commission staff recommended denial, noting that those who took part in the Summit Land Plan said they did not want apartments.

RPA Executive Director John Bridger noted that conditions have changed since the land study. He said Mr. Adamson is well known in the community.

There was no one at the meeting in opposition. Mr. Adamson said the neighbors do not object.

He said the project on 20 acres at Old Lee Highway and Pattentown Road will have 60 feet of buffer on all sides.

The project is in front of some 20 single-family homes developed earlier by Mr. Adamson.

The Planning Commission also approved 19 apartments on 1.7 acres at 6811 McCutcheon despite another staff recommendation for denial.

Commission members noted that a nearby apartment complex has 280 units.

The request was by Michael Oswald.
