  • Tuesday, November 11, 2014

A pursuit involving several police agencies finally ended with a crash in Hixson on Tuesday night.

Kevin Cook, 30, of Marion County was taken into custody after he wrecked a stolen 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 truck and trailer at Hixson Pike and Ely Road, authorities said.

Police said the truck and trailer were stolen earlier in the evening from 4500 Sherry Road in Chattanooga.

The chase began after a Red Bank officer spotted the truck and trailer on Highway 27. Joining in the pursuit were county and city officers.

The driver refused to stop as he continued through Red Bank, Soddy Daisy and Hixson trailed by a stream of police vehicles. One citizen estimated 40 police vehicles on the scene.

The crash came as he turned onto Ely Road and went through a fence at 1516 Ely Road.

The driver ran from the vehicle, but was quickly taken into custody.

Cook was initially charged with theft over $10,000, felony evading and felony reckless endangerment.
