Chickamauga WMA Hand-held Waterfowl Blind Drawings Set For Monday At Hiwassee Refuge

  • Thursday, November 13, 2014

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be conducting a hand-held drawing for vacant waterfowl blind sites on Candies Creek, Johnson Bottoms, Rogers Creek and Yellow Creek Units of Chickamauga Wildlife Management Area

These blind sites are currently vacant because hunters selected in the computerized drawing failed to confirm their intent to hunt these blinds.  It is TWRA’s goal to have these blind sites utilized by waterfowl hunters, so the sites are being reallocated through a hand-held drawing.

The drawing for these vacant blind sites will be held Monday at 6 p.m.

at Hiwassee Refuge, 525 Priddy Lane, Birchwood, Tn. 37308.  Hunters wishing to participate in the drawing need to be at least 16 years old and must be present for the drawing.  There are no hunting license requirements for entry into the drawing.

Presently, there are 50 blinds available with 20 available in Candies Creek, five blinds in Johnson Bottoms, 19 sites in Rogers Creek and six sites remaining in Yellow Creek.  The number of blind sites to draw may change slightly since hunters originally selected for these sites still have time to confirm that they will hunt these sites.

Information on the number of the blind sites available prior to the drawing and information concerning location of the various waterfowl units and blind site locations can be found on the TWRA website, (www.tnwildlife.org).
