Dr. Joshua Black, executive director of Lee University’s Division of Adult Learning, was elected as president of the Christian Adult Higher Education Association, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to Christian non-traditional higher education.

The election took place during CAHEA’s annual convention in Indianapolis.  Dr. Black, also an associate professor of educational leadership in adult learning at Lee, will serve on the organization’s leadership council for the next three years.

“I am excited in this time of higher-ed transition,” Dr. Black said, “to work with other Christian institutions to network best practices and build up the kingdom of Christ across the U.S.”

Additionally, Dr. Black has announced that Lee University will be co-hosting, along with Belhaven University, the 2016 CAHEA Annual Convention in Chattanooga.

“We are in the planning stages now for the 2016 convention,” said Dr. Black. “I am looking forward to showcasing, not just Lee University to my CAHEA colleagues, but all our community has to offer.”

Dr. Black has made a career of higher education. He earned his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in organizational leadership specializing in adult higher education, his master’s work at Malone University, and his undergraduate degree from Lee.

“[Black’s] selection as President of CAHEA is indicative of his commitment to adult higher education,” said Jayson VanHook, vice president of information services at Lee. “I think this also demonstrates that Lee University is now seen as a national leader in Christian online education.”

CAHEA was founded in 1995 and now has 96 member institutions.
