Cravens House Christmas Program

  • Friday, November 14, 2014
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park invites the public to attend a Christmas Open House at the Cravens House located on Lookout Mountain.  The Cravens House will be decorated in a manner very similar to the Civil War era.  This holiday event will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6. Tours begin every 30 minutes.  Reservations are required due to spacing limitations.  To make a reservation, and for more information about this event, please contact the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center at  423-821-7786.

Christmas for the Cravens family was spent away from their home on Lookout Mountain.
In fact, not much of their Lookout Mountain dwelling was standing at Christmas. Union soldiers and war correspondents camping on Lookout Mountain had stripped the home of its wood to have tent flooring, firewood, and souvenirs. Visit the Cravens House to learn about some of the experiences that Union and Confederate soldiers and their families were experiencing after the Battles for Chattanooga.

For more information about upcoming programs at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, please contact the Lookout Mountain Visitor Center at 423-821-7786, the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 706-866-9241, or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/chch.
