2014 UTC Percussion Ensemble
The “Beat Hunger” UTC Percussion Ensemble performance will be Monday, 7:30 p.m., at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall, UTC Fine Arts Center, corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets. It will be the only “Beat Hunger” performance this fall for the Percussion Ensemble.
“Beat Hunger" supports the Chattanooga Community Kitchen. Attendees may contribute two non-perishable food items or write a check for $2 to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen.
Dr. Monte Coulter serves as the director of percussion studies at UTC. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education and received his graduate degree in Percussion Performance from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Memphis.
He is currently principal percussionist/assistant timpanist of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, and has performed as a principal player in three of the four largest professional orchestras in Tennessee
Mr. Coulter says this year’s “Beat Hunger” event will feature some holiday music. Selections include:
· “Farandole” by Georges Bizet
· “Fanfare For the Return of Shadow” by Brett Dietz
· “The Doomsday Machine” by Michael Burritt
· “No Exit” by Lynn Glassock
· “Carol of the Bells” (traditional)
· “Coventry Carol” (traditional)
