Reinaldo Macias
The East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra is adding a Christmas concert to their season for 2014. Christmas with the ETSO will be performed on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 N. Moore Road.
Special guest artists will include tenor Reinaldo Macias, who has sung with leading opera companies in the world, including the Wiener (Vienna) Staatsoper, the Opera de Paris, the Staatsoper Berlin, and the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich. Joining him will be Finnish soprano Olga Heikkilä of the Danish Opera. Having just been named a prizewinner in the 50th International Vocal
Competition, she is considered one of opera’s fastest rising stars.
“Rarely has Chattanooga had the privilege of of hosting such world-renowned musicians,” said Brian Liu, ETSO’s conductor and music director.
Joining the orchestra and soloists will be the Kinge’s Quire, a 100-voice choir from First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. This concert will feature traditional Christmas favorites.
The concert is presented by SunTrust. Guest artist sponsorship has been provided by
Patten and Patten Inc and Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
The East Tennessee Symphony Orchestra is perhaps best known for its Independence Day Concert in Collegedale’s Veterans Memorial Park before an audience of 20,000 people.
