Mobile Pantry Holiday Feast To Be Held In Meigs County On Friday

  • Thursday, November 20, 2014

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (CAFB) will collaborate with Meigs County Ministries to provide a special holiday mobile pantry food drop in Meigs County on Friday. The event will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Meigs Middle School, 586 N. Main St., Decatur, Tn. 37322.

This mobile pantry will serve 100 families with the means to make a true holiday meal, making the holidays much brighter for our neighbors in need.  These families will receive turkeys, turkey gravy, corn, carrots, mixed vegetables, green beans, broth, flour, and other items.  Each family is expected to walk away with close to 130 pounds of food.

Adding to the holiday merriment, Choo Choo BBQ will be on-site to serve each family, around 400 people, with a turkey dinner right after they pick up their holiday food.

One in six adults and one in four children in Meigs County, are unsure where their next meal will come from.  Mobile pantries are one example of how the CAFB is working with area and national partners to identify the needs and come up with solutions for hunger in the area.

For more information, contact Laura Kilpatrick, CAFB Agency Relations coordinator, 423 667-1660.
