The Christmas Nights of Lights Concert to benefit the East Ridge Needy Child Fund is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at the Camp Jordan Arena at I-75, Exit 1.
Abba’s House Worship Director Ken Hartley has assembled more than 150 choir members from various churches including Bayside and Oakwood Baptist to present "Christmas in Song."
Mr. Hartley guided the choir through a rehearsal on Thursday evening at Camp Jordan Arena and said, "It went great and we're ready."
The popular illusionist said he expected the tour of the Christmas Nights of Lights and the Christmas Story in Song to become habit forming.
“This is going to be great new tradition with the families,” Mr. Hartley said. “This is something they will continue to do.”
Mr. Hartley said the concert will also have audience participation and he hopes to fill Camp Jordan Arena for the Needy Child Fund.
Admission for the Christmas Nights of Lights Concert is $5 per person and East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams is asking that those who would like to help out the Needy Child Fund donate an unwrapped toy. Children 10 and under will be admitted free.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Needy Child Fund.
“The money we make from the concert will be a real big backbone for the Needy Child Fund,” Chief Williams said. “Our funds are getting low because we are putting so much money into the Santa’s Village for the Christmas Nights of Lights Show. The money we make from the concert will go to buying the gifts for the kids this year.”
Those who attend the concert can use their ticket to drive through the Christmas Nights of Lights show Friday night following the concert for $3 per person.
So, for $8 per person families can enjoy a Christmas story in song and a Christmas lights show.
East Ridge Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said East Ridge Fire Chief Mike Williams, his wife Cynthia, the firefighters and their families have worked hard for the Needy Child Fund Project.
The volunteers are spending every night in Santa's Village at the end of the 1.5 mile drive-thru Christmas Nights of Lights show at Camp Jordan Park.
The King family who owns and runs the Christmas Nights of Lights show has reached out to help the Needy Child Fund by hosting this event.
