The UT & TSU Extension – Hamilton County office in Chattanooga will offer several workshops and seminars:

Farm to School Food Safety Workshop presented by UT Extension - Hamilton County will be held Dec. 10, at Orchard Knob Elementary, 2000 East 3rd St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404. The workshop will cover Meet and Greet, Tour School Facilities, Food Safety for Growers, Food Safety for School Nutrition Directors and Question and Answer Session. Pre-register by Dec. 3. Southern Style Hospitality Seminar presented by UT Extension - Hamilton County and Center for Profitable Agriculture will be held on Dec. 11, at Chattanooga WorkSpace, 302 W 6th Street, Chattanooga TN 37402. The workshop will cover the following TAEP requirements: Agritourism, Fruits and Vegetable, and Value-Add. The focus will be on fundamental hospitality, handling difficult situations, and the importance of implementing hospitality habits. Pre-registration is required by Dec. 4. Tennessee Agritourism Association Members receive two free membership per enterprise and cost for Non-members is and additional members is $20. Grow Your Business Workshop presented by UT Extension - Hamilton County, Center for Profitable Agicurlture, and The Local Food Program will be held on Dec. 12, at Chattanooga WorkSpace, 302 W 6th Street, Chattanooga Tn. 37402. The workshop will cover the following TAEP requirements: Fruits and Vegetable, and Value-Add. Topics will be Planning for Enterprise Success, Keys to Successful Marketing, Counting Cost, and Pricing for Profit. Pre-registration is required by December 5, 2014. Training cost is free and lunch is provided. Green Express Horticulture Short Course presented by UT Extension - Hamilton County and Chattanooga Association of Landscape Professionals will be held Jan. 7 and 8, 2015. This course offers Organizational and Pesticide Points for the following area: Tennessee Certified Nursery Professionals, Arborist, BCMA Science, Municipal Specialist, and Tennessee Pesticide Recertification Points. The Class will be held at the Chattanooga State Community College at 4501 Amnicola Hwy, Chattanooga. Cost for CALP members who register by Dec. 19, is $35 or $40 at the door, and for non-CALP members pre-registration by Dec. 19, 2014 is $50 or $55 at the door. Master Gardener presented by The UT Extension – Hamilton County classes begin in January 2015. This 15-week course offers a choice of Monday evening classes or Tuesday morning classes. The Monday evening class begins Jan. 5 from 6–9 p.m. and the Tuesday morning class begins Jan. 6 from 9 a.m.–noon. Classes meet at the Hamilton County Extension office at 6183 Adamson Circle, Chattanooga. Topics include soils, trees, perennials, vegetables, fruits, insects, lawn care, and much more. Students receive a book and many handouts. Completion leads to becoming a Tennessee Master Gardener.
