Lillian Clare Edwards, 88, of Cisco, GA, died Friday afternoon, November 21, 2014 at the Murray Medical Center in Chatsworth, surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was born March 22, 1926 in Dalton, GA to the late William Luther and Faye Louise Maples “Gertie” Romines Porter, Sr.; and was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Edwards; a son, William “Earl” Bennett; a daughter-in-law, Ellen Bennett; sisters, Roselee Porter, Elizabeth Smith and Bertha Hayes; and brothers, Charles A. Porter, James A. Porter and William “Bill” Porter, Jr.
Lillian worked many years in the textile industry and was retired from Collins & Aikman. She was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Jackie Maney of Chatsworth, GA; sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandy Bennett and Jerry Bennett all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Frankie Maney, Jackie Maney, Jr., Johnnie Maney, Michelle Harris, Tara Reed, Laura Beavers, Chris Ball and Angela Bennett; sisters, Helen Edwards and Louise Cross Davis both of Chatsworth, GA, Stella Callahan Sochoki and Kathy Hicks both of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Evelyn Porter of Rocky Face, GA; special care giver, Gina Mooney; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lillian Edwards will be held Sunday, November 23, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her nephews, Brother Jeff Edwards and Brother Joel Edwards officiating. She will be laid to rest at the West Hill Cemetery with Alex Ball, Tyler Fauscette, Kenny Porter, Justin Harris, Brandon Beavers and Phillip Porter serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, November 22 and after 11 a.m. Sunday, November 23.
