Les Werner, 82, loving husband and father died, peacefully at home on Friday, November 21, 2014.

Les was born in Pinckneyville, Il. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to moving to Chattanooga in 1957, Les was a chaplain intern at Georgia Baptist Hospital. While in Chattanooga he was the Director of the Baptist Student Union at UTC, and later employed at Hensley Schmidt Engineering. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Chattanooga and later joined Rivermont Presbyterian Church. Les loved photography and was a member of the Photographic Society of Chattanooga for many years. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Olga Werner, first generation immigrants from Germany, his wife of 38 years, Evelyn Mae Moore; sister, Leora Husmann and niece, Barbara Lyn Werner. 

Survivors include his daughter, Ann Werner and his wife of 15 years, Jeanne Jayne Werner. He is also survived by his brother, Gus Werner; sister, Lucille Singley-Clark; niece, Pat Schurwanz; nephew, Dale Singley; and stepchildren, Ellen Jayne Seipp, John Jayne, Al Jayne, Ken Jayne, and Rich Jayne; 15 step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 12-2 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen, Rivermont Presbyterian Church or your charity of choice.
