Choral Arts of Chattanooga will present Wonderful Peace at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m.
The board of directors of Choral Arts of Chattanooga has chosen Michael Devine as the new artistic director of Choral Arts. He moved to Chattanooga earlier this year to become the new director of music at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
Maestro Devine began his musical career as a member and soloist with the Vienna Boys’ Choir, where he sang under such well-known conductors as Lorin Maazel, Claudio Abbado, and Ricardo Muti.
After earning the Bachelor of Music from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, Maestro Devine completed the Master of Sacred Music at Luther Seminary and St. Olaf College. He has served as assistant conductor of the Two Rivers Chorale, as baritone soloist, as an adjudicator at music festivals and competitions, as a workshop presenter, and in music ministries in a variety of churches.
For this concert Maestro Devine and Choral Arts of Chattanooga will present music of 14 different composers and arrangers, covering five centuries. It will also include the Work of Christmas, a new composition by Dan Forrest, whose music will be featured in the May 2 concert.
Regular admission is $20, seniors $10, and students are $5. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
