William Hughes
William Alvon Hughes, Sr., died on November 24, 2014.
He was born Feb. 18, 1947, to parents, Raymond D. Hughes and Aileen Hughes. William was a faithful member of the World’s Church of the Living God and a member of Shalom Emanuel. He was a lifetime resident of Chattanooga, and a 1965 graduate of Howard High School.
He is survived by his lifelong love, Carolyn B. Hughes, devoted wife of 39 years; and loving mother, Aileen Hughes of Chattanooga; daughters, Angela Adams (Danny), Shauntae Fluellen (Darrell), Jacquise Bradford (Michael), Sarita Blakemore (Robert), Wendy Hughes, and Joy Hughes; sons, William Patterson (Katherine) of Cleveland, Oh., William A. Hughes, Jr., Raymond Hughes, Darrell Hughes of Atlanta Georgia, and Torrey Hughes (Cindy) of Cleveland, Tn.; one brother, James Hughes of Taylor Michigan, and one sister, Mary Hughes Adams of Chattanooga; as well as 37 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
His father, Raymond D. Hughes, and his son, Todd Cedric Hughes preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga Tn. 37404, on Monday, Dec. 1, at noon with Pastor Allan Harrington of the World’s Church of the Living God officiating.
The body will lay in state on Sunday, Nov. 30. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m.
