Bike Chattanooga Celebrates Its 100,000th Trip

  • Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Chattanooga’s bike share system has reached a major milestone. During Wednesday morning's commute to work and school, Bike Chattanooga reached its 100,000th trip since the program launched on July 23, 2012. Annual members and visitors have traveled 416,850 miles, burned 17.9 million calories, and saved 288 million pounds of CO2 while commuting to work, riding to lunch, and enjoying bike rides using the Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System.

Since the system launched in July 2012, Bike Chattanooga has provided 1,300 annual members and over 29,000 casual members with access to a fleet of 300 bikes and 33 stations covering the UTC Campus, Southside, North Shore, and City Center.

Bike Chattanooga offers locals and visitors a variety of membership options including a 24-Hour Access Pass for $6, a three-day Access Pass for $12, and an Annual Memberships for $75. There are corporate and community partnership options that allow businesses and organizations to provide memberships to employees at a reduced rate of only $50 and help encourage health and wellness in the work place. Current Bike Chattanooga community partners are Volkert, Playcore, Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, Chambliss, Bohner, and Stophel, Propex, and the City of Chattanooga. Conference Memberships allow event organizers to offer attendees seven-day access to the network for only $20 per membership. More information on these membership types may be found on www.bikechattanooga.com/pricing.

There are many promotional opportunities for businesses and organizations to advertise while supporting Bike Chattanooga. Ad space is available on the 33 station kiosks, on the bike baskets, and even a complete custom bike wrap. There is also the opportunity to sponsor free Bike Chattanooga days to raise awareness of your event, cause, or business while allowing locals and visitors the chance to ride for free.  Current Bike Chattanooga sponsors include:  BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, the Chattanooga History Center, and the Tennessee Aquarium.
