East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert Thanks the Community

  • Friday, November 7, 2014

It is both an honor and a privilege to be re-elected as mayor of the city of East Ridge.  Let me first thank my wonderful family and friends who have been so supportive throughout this campaign and throughout my years in public service.  I simply could not do it without them.  I would also like to thank the many volunteers who placed their trust in me as we conducted our campaign and who worked so hard to produce this outcome.  To the voters of East Ridge, again I thank you for your confidence in allowing me to continue to represent you as your mayor.

The bedrock principle of our system of government is citizen participation.  Voting is our first responsibility, followed by participating in the process by supporting candidates who are willing to serve the public.  I have the greatest admiration and respect for all who are willing to place their name on the ballot and stand for election to any office.  To that extent, I want to thank all of those who sought an elected position and encourage them to join me and the council as together we all move our great city forward.

Our focus was and continues to be on how we meet the needs and provide services for our neighbors in our hometown.  The past four years have been a tremendous experience, and I am confident the council, city staff, and I have laid the groundwork that will present a great opportunity for both our city and our citizens.  We have very bright days ahead in East Ridge.

I believe local government is the immediate place at which we can have a direct impact on the lives of our fellow citizens.  And rest assured I do not view my role as mayor simply as “just doing my job.”  I believe it to be my entrusted responsibility.  We have an opportunity to create a better future for our children and grandchildren, and I am proud and humbled to be serving as your mayor as we move through these very exciting times.

Thank you again, and I look forward to working with the new city council and each and every one of you.

Brent Lambert
Mayor
City of East Ridge
