Several rock climbers helped assist the Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department with a rope rescue Sunday afternoon.
At 4:30 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a high fall at the Lido Climbing area on Mowbray Mountain.
The Mowbray VFD arrived and requested a mutual aid response for additional personnel to assist with the rescue. The Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department, Special Tactics and Rescue Services (STARS) and the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded.
When rescue personnel arrived at the patient's location, they found several rock climbers with the injured male patient.
While rescuers assisted with the patient, the rock climbers helped set up a rope system for the rescuers to extricate the patient. The patient was conscious and alert and reported to rescue personnel that he slipped on the rocks and fell about eight to 10 feet.
Mowbray VFD was grateful for the rescue assistance from the rock climbers and additional fire/rescue personnel. The patient sustained serious injuries and was transported by Hamilton County EMS to Erlanger Medical Center.
The patient's name is unknown.
