The Brilliance
The Brilliance

The Brilliance will return to Lee University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to perform an Advent Vespers Concert in Pangle Hall.

Founded in 2009, The Brilliance is composed of artists David Gungor and John Arndt. As a contemporary classical music duo, their music is described as “musically rich, theologically brave, and emotionally honest.” Both Mr. Gungor and Mr. Arndt are also members of David’s brother’s band, Gungor, a perennial favorite at Lee.

The concert will consist of music and poetry, and will feature a small string section and drummer in addition to the usual musicians.

The duo has released several albums, including “Lent,” “Cavetime: A Worship Experience,” “Advent: Volumes I and II,” and their first album, “The Brilliance.” They play at churches, conferences, and events all over the country and collaborate with other musicians focused on reviving liturgy in worship music. The Brilliance also released a song book in August of this year which contains the scores and lyrics to all of their songs.

“We are pleased to welcome the Brilliance back to campus once again,” said Josh York, U-Church director. “When I was contacted by David a few weeks ago, I knew this was an opportunity we could not pass up.  He and John asked to return to Lee because of their positive experiences with students in chapel and in the classroom over the past couple of years. ”

Pangle Hall is located in Lee’s Church Street Annex at 340 Church St. This concert is a free, non-ticketed event and is open to the public.
