Chattanooga – Ice on the Landing will benefit a local charity each Wednesday in December from 5-9 p.m.

during its weekly “Skate for Charity” program at Ross’s Landing.

Gatlinburg – The 39th annual Festival of Christmas Past celebration will feature old-time mountain music, traditional harp singing, demonstrations of domestic skills, and more 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sugarlands Visitor Center at Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

White Pine – Enjoy the Indoor Motocross Winter Series at the Smoky Mountain Expo Arena.

Cornersville – Patrons can see the expansive private collection of Civil War memorabilia; tour the plantation’s original smokehouse and 19th century traveler’s cottage during The Christmas History Tour at Historic Lairdland Farm House and its Civil War Museum.

Nashville – The 12 Days of Science offers activities that include a holiday laser show, extreme science demonstrations, LED ornament-making lab and more at Adventure Science Center.

Jonesborough – Silents on Sunday will feature the silent film “Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ” based on the 1880 novel by Lew Wallace 7 p.m. at the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre.

Dec. 18

Jackson – Bring a lawn chair and experience the preservation of old-time music as the Jackson Area Plectral Society performs 6:30 p.m. at Casey Jones Village.

Dec. 18-20

Hendersonville – “It’s a Wonderful Life – A Live Radio Play” will be performed as a 1940’s live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience presented by Actors Point Theatre Company at God Why.

Knoxville – The 23rd annual production of Modern Dance Primitive Light is a solstice celebration of movement and creativity at the Laurel Theatre. Seating is limited.

Dec. 19

Chattanooga – All aboard the Polar Express for a train ride through the North Pole. Dress in pajamas, enjoy a special screening of “The Polar Express 3D,” meet the conductor, sip hot chocolate, and enjoy brunch muffins 9:30-11:45 a.m. at Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater.

Dec. 19-20

New Johnsonville – Learn about a Christmas cooking, camp life, soldier huts, Christmas decorations, and more during “A Soldier’s Christmas” 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Johnsonville State Historic Park.

Dec. 20

Huntingdon – The annual performance of “Christmas on Broadway” will feature Broadway hits and holiday magic 7 p.m. at The Dixie Performing Arts & Enrichment Center.

Dec. 26-27

Memphis – Cirque Dreams Holidaze features 300 costumes, 20 acts, and 30 performers from 12 countries for a gravity-defying show at The Orpheum Theatre.

Dec. 28

Chattanooga – View wintering bald eagles on the “Eagle Eyes” Winter Wildlife Cruise 2-4 p.m. aboard the Tennessee Aquarium River Gorge, leaving the Chattanooga Pier. Advanced registration is required.

Dec. 29-Jan. 2

Memphis – Children can explore the universe around them at Out of This World Space Camp 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at The Children’s Museum of Memphis. The fee is $150 per student with snacks and lunch included.

Dec. 31

Memphis – Enjoy an action-packed day with The Ninja Turtles complete with face painting, temporary tattoos, a Ninja Scavenger Hunt and more at Ninja New Year’s at Noon 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Children’s Museum of Memphis.

Jamestown – Enjoy a New Year’s Eve Hike with a potluck dinner, interpretive programs, and finally, a midnight hike starting at 8 p.m. at Pickett State Park.

Jan. 10

Nashville – European and American art historians will gather to present a public symposium to coincide with “Sanctity Pictured: The Art of the Dominican and Franciscan Orders in Renaissance Italy” 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Frist Center for the Visual Art’s Auditorium.
