UT Bonus Is Deserved, And Maybe Erlanger's Too

RE:  Roy Exum:  Bonuses At Erlanger & UT

Interesting article by Roy Exum on the granting of bonuses to Erlanger executives and Butch Jones. If anyone doesn't think Butch deserves a raise just look at the Coaches ALL-SEC team that came out yesterday.  Fifty-five players were selected first or second team and exactly one Vol, Derek Barnett, was included in the 55. Butch has re-invigorated the fan base, recruited well and brick by brick is rebuilding our program that was destroyed by Fulmer, Hamilton, Kiffin and Dooley. His raise was well deserved and keeps Michigan out of the equation.

As for the Erlanger raises I don't know as much about the financial situation there. If, and I repeat if, the current senior management has truly turned the corner and has the facility well on its way to financial stability then their raises may be well deserved.

Also I would be interested to see Erlanger's executive compensation package compared to similar sized hospitals in other areas of the country. If we aren't paying competitive salaries and senior management has done an excellent job then there will be a hospital equivalent of Michigan that will eventually come calling. I would like to see a detailed analyst by a hospital management firm evaluating the performance of Erlanger's executives before criticizing their compensation package.
