Charlsie Mae Grider Turner, 93, of Jasper, Tennessee, died on Friday, December 12, 2014.
Charlsie, a beloved wife, mother and friend is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Eli and Emily Ethel Rorex Grider. She was an 82 year member of Jasper First Baptist Church and worked for over 20 years as a clerk for the Home Store and M&J Supermarket. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Jasper and Jasper Memorial VFW Post #6362. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Fred Grider, Lester Prince Grider and Estil Grider and sisters, Ora Lee Grider and Ruby Ethel Grider.
She was dearly loved by her husband of 71 years, Melvin Turner, Sr.; children, Romona Weissenberg, Gwendolyn (Charles) Brooks and Melvin (Rebecca) Turner, Jr.; grandchildren, William (Ivonne) Lambert, Jr., Karen Lambert, Tim (Cindy) Brooks, Stephen Brooks, Sandra (Eric) Turner, and Jeremy (Candy) Turner; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and brother, Roy Grider.
Funeral services will be conducted at Jasper First Baptist Church at 1 p.m. CT on Monday, Dec. 15, with Reerend Buddy Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, Dec. 14, from 3-5 p.m. CT at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper.
