It was announced during an airport board meeting that the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport has seen some of its best numbers of the year this fall in terms of timely arrivals and low cancellations.
Commissioner Lynda Griffin said, "If you take the weather, that's been so weird all fall, into consideration, that is excellent."
CEO and President Terry Hart also noted that many cancellations stem from cancellations at other airports.
He said, "Airlines today are more apt to do a blanket cancellation...as they see certain weather patterns go across the country."
It was also announced at the meeting that the CMA recently held a successful "Christmas at the Airport" event.
All passengers of flights to the CMA were greeted upon arrival with gift bags from local companies.
A Santa Claus was also available to talk with children and take pictures.
Children from Westview Elementary sang carols in the main lobby.
During the meeting, it was also announced that Commissioner Gene Veazey is retiring after this month.
Commissioner Dan Jacobson said, "Please know that you have left an impressive mark on the Chattanooga Airport."
Commissioner Veazey told the board, "It's been an honor, privilege, and joy to be a part of this...It's been a joy to serve."
