Chalk up two more All-American honors for the Chattanooga Mocs football team with the release of the Associated Press awards today. Senior defensive end Davis Tull made the AP first team while senior tight end Faysal Shafaat was a third team selection.
This is Tull’s third appearance on the AP All-American team. He was a first team pick a year ago and on the second team following his sophomore season in 2012. Tull, a three-time Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year, led the league with 10.5 sacks.
Shafaat had 34 catches for 413 yards and five touchdowns in 2014, earning first team All-SoCon honors. This is his second All-American honor after earning third team recognition from College Sports Madness after his sophomore season in 2012.
Chattanooga had its most successful season in school history with a program record 10-4 mark in 2014. The Mocs won the SoCon title with a 7-0 league slate and advanced to the FCS Playoffs for the first time since 1984. UTC’s season ended in the quarterfinals with a 35-30 loss at No. 1 New Hampshire.
