Luther Dillingham
Luther Andrew “L.A.” Dillingham, 84, of Soddy Daisy, formerly of Ringgold, Georgia, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in a local health care facility.
A native of Shannon, Ga., he was a son of the late Lawrence and Annie Lou Dillingham.
Following graduation from Kirkman High School he entered the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War as a sergeant. During his enlistment he married his wife, Virginia “Jean” Hundley, and following his honorable discharge the couple began their family. Mr. Dillingham worked with South Central Bell for more than 42 years. He was a member of Mile Straight Baptist Church and a Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Mike Dillingham; brother, Bill Dillingham; and a sister, Wanda Dillingham Elliot.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia “Jean” Dillingham; daughter, Krista (Tim) Goss; four grandchildren, Shauna Dillingham, Jarrod Goss, Bailey Goss and Brice Burt, several nieces & nephews.
A funeral ceremony to commemorate his life will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Al Goss officiating.
Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
