Christine Griffie Taylor, died peacefully with her daughter Freida by her side on Saturday, December 20, 2014. 

She was born in Piedmont, Al., to John and Evie Griffie on July 21, 1918. 

She was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church where she served on the Cooking Committee.  She retired from Senior Neighbors before her illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Evie Griffie; her husband, Ralph Taylor, Sr., two sisters, Eunice Perry and Claudale Stitts; five brothers, Bill, Jesse Emmitt, Frank and James Griffie; two nephews, Sammie Perry and Franklin Joe Griffie.

She is survived by one sister, Mamalie (Charles) Prater; four children, Ralph (Joyce) Taylor, Jr., Theodore (Sharon) Taylor, Priscilla Taylor and Freida Taylor-Lewis, all of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Van Taylor Erikka (Shaun) Taylor-Lewis Thompson, Kimberly Michelle Lewis, all from Chattanooga; Jarvis Taylor, San Diego, California and Chasity Coleman from, Atlanta; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A special thanks to Alexian PACE and Hospice for the wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 1 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Careathers officiating.

Interment will be on Friday, Dec. 26, at 9:30 a.m. at National Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends beginning at noon until time of services at the church.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
