Katelyn Westbrook Joins Plastic Surgery Group As Aesthetic Nurse

  • Monday, December 29, 2014

Plastic Surgery Group welcomed Katelyn Westbrook, RN, BSN to the practice as an Aesthetic Nurse. Her focus will encompass both non-surgical procedures including Botox and injectable fillers and skincare.

“Katelyn is an aesthetic nursing trifecta. She has an artistic eye, keen techinical skills and an engaging and uplifting personality.”said Dr. Mark A. Brzezienski. Ms. Westbrook is the first to serve in this role in the practice’s 56 year history.

“We are experiencing a shift in the way that the public views plastic surgery.

Instead of surgical solutions to improve their appearance, more and more Chattanoogans are looking for non-invasive ways to enhance their appearance. By bringing Katelyn’s expertise to the Plastic Surgery Group, we are hoping to cater to this growing market.” said Communications Specialist, Andre Charitat.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 13.4 million minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures were performed in the United States in 2013, with Botox injections being the most popular procedure. Soft tissue fillers, which help correct age-related volume loss in the midface, were the second most popular. This increasing demand for minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures highlights the importance of incorporating an Aesthetic Nurse with Katelyn’s skill set into the Plastic Surgery Group.

Ms. Westbrook, a native of Ringgold, received her nursing degree at Dalton State College and completed her BSN at the University of West Georgia. She spent time nursing on the cardiothoracic floor at Memorial Hospital and at University Clinic Erlangen, located in Erlangen, Germany. Prior to coming onboard at the Plastic Surgery Group, Katelyn worked at Plaza Surgery Center, a facility where the board certified plastic surgeons of the Plastic Surgery Group routinely operate. She has trained extensively with the Plastic Surgery Group surgeons and has absorbed their attention to detail in all services that she offers. Katelyn is a member of the Association of Plastic Surgical Nurses and the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists.  By combining her medical background with a passion for aesthetics, Katelyn says she is eager to help patients look and feel their best.

“Your face is the first thing people see,” said Ms. Westbrook. “Helping patients to feel better about themselves and regain confidence is what it’s all about. The goal is not to make them look like someone else, just a younger, more vibrant version of themselves.”
