Dale F. Studer, 93, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, December 6, 2014.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1921, in Sugarcreek, Ohio to the late John and Louise Studer.  Dale served our country in the Army Air Corp, as a Sergeant First Class. He was a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 60 years.  He was the past owner and partner of Walden Ridge Coal Company, Pioneer Coal Company and Sequatchie Valley Coal Corporation.  Dale was a lobbyist for the coal industry in Tennessee.  He was the owner and operator of Studer Enterprises Inc. and Studer Investment Inc.  Dale volunteered at the Medal of Honor Museum in Chattanooga. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Studer.

Dale is survived by his two daughters, Paula S. O’Steen (Phil) and Deborah S. Rogers (James); grandchildren, Heather R. Brandt (George) and their son, James F. Brandt, Justin Dale Rogers (Lindsay), Ashlee O’Steen Rogers (Tyler), Heidi O’Steen Fowler (Grant), Annie M. O’Steen and Debbee P. O’Steen; step granddaughter, Betsy Coleman (Gary) and their children, Tripp and John Trent Coleman and step-grandson, David R. O’Steen.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, and 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9, with Reverend Braxton Cotton officiating, at the funeral home chapel.  Entombment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Special thanks to longtime companion, Katie McGee and caregivers, Susan Ashburn, Ghislaine Michaud, Karen and Alisha Johnson. 

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Dale’s name to the Medal of Honor Museum, 2200 North Chamberlain Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37406 or St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3210 Social Circle, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
