Man Identified In Dalton Self-Checkout Cash Theft

Samuel Chavez, 41, 123 N. Grimes Street, Dalton, has been identified as the man recorded taking money from a wallet left at the self checkout station at the Glenwood Avenue Kroger on Oct. 26. He is scheduled to turn himself in on an arrest warrant.

The incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 26, at the Kroger grocery store. The victim began to check out at one of the self-checkout stations but realized that he had forgotten to pick up an item.  He left the checkout to go pick up the missing item but forgot his wallet.  The next customer in line then made his purchases. Before leaving, he was recorded removing the cash from the wallet and walking out.  The wallet contained two $100 bills, a $20 bill, and a $1 bill.
