Former Chattanooga Police Chief Bobby Dodd made a Facebook announcement that he will not run for sheriff.
He said he came to the decision after a great deal of thoughtful consideration and discussions with his family.
Mr. Dodd said he is enjoying more time with family and enjoying "a slightly slower pace" since retiring as police chief at the end of December.
He said he has made a commitment with Emerson Russell to help with his security firm.
Mr. Dodd had earlier picked up papers for a possible clash with Sheriff Jim Hammond.
Chris Harvey is also running.
