Hamilton County Schools, UTC Closed Wednesday; Other Closings

Hamilton County Schools will be closed Wednesday "based on today’s National Weather Service briefing," school officials said Tuesday afternoon.

School-aged childcare will be closed and all extracurricular activities are cancelled.  Central Office is closed.  Maintenance employees are to report at regular time.

Baylor School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.

The Chattanooga City Court Clerk’s Office and Chattanooga City Court (both morning and afternoon dockets) are closed  Wednesday.

The East Ridge City Library will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

General Sessions Court is closed Wednesday.

The agenda session of the County Commission set for Wednesday is cancelled.

Assessor, Register of Deeds, County Clerk, and Trustee offices will be closed Wednesday. With continuing serious icy forecast this morning and reports of potentially treacherous driving conditions offices are closing as a safety measure. Clerk Bill Knowles stated that he will personally respond to email questions received in his office and provide forms when contacted at: billknowles@countyclerkanytime.com The County Clerk’s internet tag renewal option at www.countyclerkanytime will receive orders today for mailing when the office re-opens.

Hamilton County government offices were open.

The city of Collegedale Municipal Court is cancelled for Wednesday. Anyone having a case can call the court clerk to reschedule at 468-1891.

The Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed all day. Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. King Convenience Center.

Fannin County Schools

Georgia Department of Labor affected by the severe winter weather will remain closed.

All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will be closed. Day and evening classes are canceled.

Grace Baptist Academy

Hunter Museum will be closed

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. All classes, including night classes on Wednesday, are cancelled and offices closed.

City Council Approves Tax Abatement For Standard Coosa Thatcher Loft Project

The City Council on Tuesday night approved a tax abatement for a loft project at the old Standard Coosa Thatcher plant in Ridgedale. Officials said that 100 percent of the units will be affordable housing. A project for the dilapidated site has long been on the drawing board.
