The Senator And The Ant Hill - And Response

Saturday, February 15, 2014
I have seen enough, heard enough, and read enough to "get the drift."

From the very first appearance and interaction of Senator Corker in the various media interviews and published statements concerning the VW-UAW issue, he has made it clear that:  (1)  The matter is "personal" to him; and (2)  He is "passionate" about the success of a local project (Enterprise South) he was involved in for many years as a citizen of this city that he loves.

Senator Corker did not give up his citizenship or his Constitutional rights as a private citizen to participate in local affairs when he was elected to the United States Senate.  Senators do not take their personal and passionate affairs to the Senate floor to be treated as national, international, or security isues.  He was not on the Senate floor in suit and tie as usual (I watch every session when possible) when he was interviewed and made his personal wishes known concerning the preferred outcome of the vote for the benefit of his home state and our city.  He was at home like the rest of us private citizens, but as a much better informed citizen because of his past involvement.

It is to the advantage of this city, if not for this state and this region, for UAW to be gone.  We do not need or want this kind of distraction when our own citizens and our German counterparts can work together to take the proper actions to arrive at decisions satisfactory to all those affected without going behind each other's back.  And we certainly do not need or want input from MSNBC.

It is past time for the personal attacks to stop and the efforts scrapped to impugn Senator Corker as a part of the Democrats' strategy at all levels to attempt to take over the House of Representatives in the fall elections.

Senator Corker is one of the most respected members in the United States Senate.  It is a weak tactic for all the liberal ants to be working the ant hill to derail an elephant.  It will not happen.  In fact, it is downright un-American if not illegal for local elected officials and representatives of the Democratic Party to use their positions to bring false claims to impress and sway their constituents.  That is their charge against Senator Corker.  Where is their credibility?  We voters are "smarter than the average bear" so do not sell us short.

The VW issue now is a matter between VW and its employees.  That is a good thing.  They need to be left alone to do their jobs in peace.

Experts in Labor Law at both Cornell and Indiana University have stated that Corker crossed the line. The law professors were shocked by his comments and stated this gives the National Labor Relations Board grounds to set this election aside.

Given how close the vote was, a difference of 86 votes (6.4275%) out of a total 1,338 votes, the NLRB may want to do just that.

And I think Corker and other Tennessee politicians should be investigated for trying to influence an election.

IDB Travesty - And Response

It is unfortunate that our system of local government is structured so that a handful of rich and powerful people in this town control almost everything significant that goes on here. Some would argue that this has been going on in every government since the beginning of time.  While this may be true, I don’t have to like it.  I am fortunate to have this forum to vent ... The Irony Of The Black Community

Isn't it ironic? Every other day, we hear about another member of the black community who gets shot and refuses to talk (a problem certainly not unique to Chattanooga) but when a cop is the one who shoots, they can't talk fast enough.  And when the police manage to arrest a large group of people who need to be arrested, without the assistance of the community, we hear the ... McCallie's JaVaughn Craig Still Improving At Quarterback

(This is the 14th in a series of preseason stories on new high school football coaches, or veteran coaches at a different school, and top players in the Chattanooga area) JaVaughn Craig was the starting quarterback for McCallie all season a year ago, but it wasn’t originally planned like that. Craig was a wide receiver when he resumed his football career ... (click for more)

Hixson Beats Silverdale For Second Volleyball Win

There's something about that second set that gives the Hixson Lady Wildcats trouble. Hixson lost the second set in Monday's volleyball opener against Sale Creek.  They did the same thing against the Silverdale Seahawks on Tuesday, but just like Monday's match, the Lady Wildcats came out on top, 3-1. Hixson won the first set with ease, 25-11.  Silverdale evened the  ... (click for more)
