Red Bank High School announced earlier today that Chad Grabowski from Mount Dora HS (Fla). has been hired as the school's new football coach.

Grabowski had a five-year record of 38-20 at Mount Dora. He replaces E.K. Slaughter who is now the head coach at Heritage (Ga.) HS.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Grabowski and his family to Red Bank," said Red Bank High School principal Dr. Justin Robertson. "I am most impressed with his commitment to prepare his players for college, both athletically and academically.

"He has a proven record of developing players and helping them through the college recruiting process. In his five years at Mount Dora, Coach Grabowski consistently produced winning teams and 26 of his players earned scholarships to play college ball."

He is a 2001 graduate of Valdosta (Ga,) State where he played defensive end for three years and was all-county and all-district at Tavares HS north of Orlando.

"Red Bank has good support from the community and that is what attracted our family to the school," said Grabowski. "And I look forward to helping the Lion football program get back to the playoffs and also to help many of the student-athletes attend college.".

Red Bank was 3-7 this past fall and the last time the Lions were in the playoffs was 2011 (7-4)

2014 Opener:  Aug 22 at Boyd Buchanan

Red Bank HS Quarterback Club: Coach Grabowski will be introduced at the monthly meeting Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at Red Bank Community Center down from the new Middle School entrance.

Cell Phones And Roundabouts

I read the article written by Chris Morgan about the use of cell phones in vehicles and the Chattanooga Roundabouts. Cell phone use in vehicles especially in crisis intersection situations is extremely dangerous. I also agree with his assessment about the roundabouts. One problem I see with roundabouts is that on the two-lane roundabouts where they are coming in from ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Two Wrongs Not Right

Scottie Mayfield is a delightful friend of mine but he’s the last guy in the world who should be aiming at anybody’s character. He’s always had class but today Scottie is the “star” of a shameful political commercial in which he assails challenger Weston Wamp on behalf of a panicked Chuck Fleischmann. Mayfield, you’ll remember, ran against the two in the last race for the District ... (click for more)
