Local Girl Scout Troops To Partner With Meals On Wheels Program

  • Wednesday, February 5, 2014

The Meals on Wheels program will partner with the Chattanooga area troops of the Southern Appalachians Girl Scout Council.

On Friday, for the second year in a row, girl scouts will travel in decorated cookie caravans to give some meals on wheels participants cookies along with their daily meal. Mostly homebound and often lacking daily interaction with others, participants welcome visits from groups, such as Girl Scouts. The ‘Caravan’ will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Ray Evans Transit Center (back of building), 740 East 12th Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37403.

The Meals on Wheels program provides a noontime, nutritionally-balanced meal to mostly senior adults/disabled adults and is administered locally by the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability/Southeast Tennessee Development District. The Southeast Tennessee Area Agency serves the ten county region of Southeast Tennessee.

For more information on the Meals on Wheels program, call 866 836-6678.
