2014 Spelling Bee Winners Announced In Whitfield County Schools

The top spellers in Whitfield County elementary and middle schools competed on Friday in the system-wide spelling bee. All participants received a certificate and the top four spellers earned a trophy.

All elementary school bee winners, included Austin Duncan (Pleasant Grove), Kristen Ramirez (Antioch), Reese Brown (Tunnel Hill), Landen Cress (Beaverdale), Miles Summers (Dawnville), Tucker Johnson (Westside), and Eric Sanchez (Dug Gap); Fernando Lemus (Cedar Ridge), Shannon Roberts (Valley Point), Brock Keeter (Cohutta), Alan Espinoza (Eastside), Sreya Gireeshkumar (New Hope), and Desiree Rodriguez (Varnell).

The field of competition from the middle schools included Emily Burns (Westside), Cameron Walker (Westside), Lizbeth Zepeda (Eastbrook), Alana Wallace (New Hope), Autumn Robinson (Valley Point), and Abby Crossen (New Hope); Matt Wingate (North Whitfield), Matthew Pedigo (Valley Point), Alaina Thompson (New Hope), and Adam Sumilong (North Whitfield).

Top spellers in the elementary schools are Tucker Johnson (1st Place, Westside), Shannon Roberts (3rd Place, New Hope), Sreya Gireeshkumar (2nd Place, New Hope), and Eric Sanchez (4th Place, Dug Gap)

The top middle school spellers are Matt Wingate (4th Place, North Whitfield), Matthew Pedigo (3rd Place, Valley Point), Alaina Thompson, (2nd Place, New Hope), and Adam Sumilong (1st Place, North Whitfield).
