Signal Mountain Genealogical Society Meeting March 4

The Signal Mountain Genealogical Society will meet at the Walden Town Hall, 1836 Taft Highway, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Refreshments will be served, followed by a short business meeting and program.

The speaker for the meeting will be member and long-time resident of Signal Mountain, Joan Hanks. Mrs. Hanks will present a fun and informative program, “From Which Ancestor Do We Inherit Our Creative Genes.”

Boyds Were In Hamilton County At An Early Date; Several Fought With The Confederacy

Alexander Boyd settled about four miles south of Ooltewah before the Indian removal, purchasing his land near White Oak Mountain for as little as a quarter an acre. Man Barges Into Woman's Home In MLK Neighborhood; Tries To Rape Her; Photos Of Suspect Released

Chattanooga Police said a man barged into a woman's home in the MLK Neighborhood around noon on Tuesday and tried to rape the woman.   Police said, "The victim was followed by the suspect into her residence where the victim was then attacked. Moccasin Bend Resident Asks City To Move Police Firing Range So He Can Open Bed And Breakfast Inn

A Moccasin Bend resident is asking the city to move a police firing range from off the historic Bend so he can open a bed and breakfast inn.
