At a standing room only event, Lee University students, faculty and staff sat spellbound while 2009 alum Army Sgt. Andrew Smith, a member of the 82nd Airborne told his story of courage, sacrifice and perseverance.

Sgt. Smith welcomed the opportunity to speak at his alma mater Lee University in Cleveland, on Thursday.  The chapel service included a seven-minute video which chronicled his journey from the battlefield in Afghanistan to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and then home to Chattanooga, where he lives with his wife Tori.

The chapel service ended with the praise band leading the audience in an emotional rendition of "It is Well with my Soul".

In lieu of his honorarium, Lee University made a generous contribution to the Honoring the Sacrifice Foundation.

It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in ... (click for more)
