Chattanooga native Bill Dedman will speak to the Chattanooga Writers' Guild Tuesday on the challenges of research and writing a nonfiction biography/history. Mr. Dedman is co-author of Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune.
An investigative reporter for NBC News, Mr. Dedman got his start in journalism at 16 as a copyboy at the Chattanooga Times. He has written for The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and The New York Times, and was the first director of computer-assisted reporting for The Associated Press. Mr. Dedman taught advanced reporting part time at the University of Maryland, Northwestern University, and Boston University, and created the Power Reporting site of research tools for journalists.
The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga Public Library Downtown.
