McCallie senior Elliott Dockery recorded the opening day win and teammate Tyler Payne was 2-4 with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases as the Blue Tornado defeated Carrollton (Ga.) High School, 6-2, Monday in a high school baseball game at Shorter College in Rome, Ga.
Dockery was one of four McCallie pitchers who limited the hosts to four hits as closer Cole Songer pitched the final three innings and earned the save.
McCallie scored four runs in the first three innings and never looked back.
Scenic City Classic: McCallie's next game is Thursday at home against Gordon Lee (5:45 p.m.) in the Scenic City Classic.
