Ooltewah Softball Takes District Win Over Cleveland

Ooltewah took a district home softball win over Cleveland, 13-1, on Thursday.

Monica Thompson scattered two hits over four innings of the five-inning contest. Her record improves to 1-1.

Freshman Tiera Lemon rapped two singles, scored twice and had an RBI. She stole two bases.

Ashunti Cooper went 2-3 with a home run. She scored twice and knocked in a pair of runs, in addition to stealing two bases.

Sloan Sullivan was 2-3 and scored three times, while freshman Aubie Collake had two runs batted in and scored twice.

Elizabeth Novelli was 2-3 with two RBIs, and Summer Williams doubled and knocked in a run.

Ooltewah improves to 2-1, 1-1 in District 5AAA.

Georgia Northwestern's Volleyball Season Ends At Hiwassee

The 2015 volleyball season came to an end for the Lady Bobcats (0-14)  on Monday  night with a 25-12, 25-21, 25-20 loss to the Hiwassee College Tigers in Madisonville, Tn. Sarah Dorsey had four kills, a block in two digs in the loss. Gabrille Pace finished with four kills, three aces and a block. Abbey Hannah collected six assists to go with a kill and two digs. ... Lee University Social Media Threat Suspect Identified, Charged And In Custody

Lee University student Olayinka Opaso, from Nigeria, 18, confessed on Tuesday to a senior Lee University official about his involvement in the Yik Yak post describing potential threats to Lee University students. Bullets rang out near an Alton Park school bus stop on Tuesday morning, sending students scrambling for cover. Police took two suspects into custody.
