Signal Mountain defeated East Ridge on Thursday night, 4-2, as Jake Carmichael and Garrett Hensley each had two hits and Levi Glasscock turned in a solid four-inning pitching performance.
One of Hensley’s hits was a run-scoring double to right-center field in the sixth inning.
Glasscock went four innings and gave up five hits and one earned run as the Eagles won their season-opening game. Garland Wood threw three innings of one-hit relief with five strikeouts to preserve the win.
East Ridge’s Reinche threw a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out three. All four runs allowed by Reinche were earned.
Broetzman had two hits, including a double, and one RBI for the Pioneers (0-2) and Culpepper also had two hits.
Signal Mountain plays Heritage High School on Saturday to play Pope John Paul II at 4 p.m. The Pioneers’ next action is a two-game series against District 6-AA rival Brainerd on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m.
