John Ralph Burchfield, 72, of Cleveland, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday night, March 14, 2014 surrounded by his family.
John Ralph was born on February 14, 1942 in Robbinsville, NC, a son of the late Floyd and Myrtle Burchfield. He worked for many years until his retirement as a truck driver where he was known to many by his CB handle “Shaggy Dog”.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Natasha Burchfield; and three siblings, Foie Lee Pressley, Robert Earl Burchfield and Bessie Mae Shoat.
John Ralph is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 26 plus years, Vickie Baliles Burchfield; five children, Stephen & Melissa Burchfield, Johnny & Kayleen Burchfield, Michelle Burchfield, Caden Burchfield and Shawna & Kevin Howard; nine grandchildren, Sam Burchfield, Cierra Burchfield, Angelica Burchfield, Dekotah Howard aka “Shaggy Pup”, Tiffany Howard, Jack McCarty, Kyle Kincaid, Jane Kincaid and Lila Kincaid; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl McGill; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at the Kinser Church of God located at 141 Kinser Road SE in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Guinn Green officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, March 18 from 5-7 p.m. service time.
