City Council Votes To Defer Action On Complete Streets Ordinance

Tuesday, March 18, 2014

The City Council on Tuesday night voted to defer action on the Complete Streets ordinance to get additional questions answered.

The matter will come up in committee next Tuesday.

Councilman Larry Grohn, "When we use Complete Streets to build bicycle lanes that no one in their right mind would ride on, I have a problem with the policy. I'm having a difficult time wanting to vote for this as an ordinance when I'm not seeing some logic applied to this."

He said he thought protected bike lanes were more logical.

Councilman Ken Smith said he had an issue with the fact that the council would be approving an ordinance that would later have specific guidelines add.

He said he would rather consider an ordinance with the guidelines in place.

Roy Exum: Want To Buy An AK-47?

On Sunday night I got an email from a reader who I enjoy that read, “How about, ‘Don’t sell assault weapons to 18-year-olds.’ The blood is on your hands (and all the other gun and violence idolaters)!” While I beg to disagree with him, this is a nation where – right now, this minute -- there are an estimated ONE TRILLION rounds of ammunition and over 300 million firearms.
