A man authorities say has been deported to Mexico six different times is facing a new charge of entering the country illegally.
Bulmaro Renteria Covarrubius is awaiting arraignment in Federal Court in Chattanooga.
Authorities said he was arrested last Sunday by the Athens, Tn., Police Department after a citizen reported that he was trying to drive while drunk. An officer said he was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol.
A check of his record showed that he was first deported on June 27, 2000. He was since deported to Mexico on five different occasions: July 1, 2000; June 9, 2011; June 10, 2011; March 4, 2013; April 11, 2013; and the most recent Oct. 15, 2013.
He received a sentence of 10 days on one of the infractions and six months when he was caught in Texas.
