Kabob-ster Restaurant Opens Near Hamilton Place

Monday, March 24, 2014

Kabob-ster is opening at 1408 Gunbarrel Road, Suite 111.

Kabob-ster is the newest addition to Hamilton Palace area restaurants and is the only restaurant in the Chattanooga area that serves authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, said officials.  The restaurant was conceived and developed by Mounir Minkara and Tarek Forgani.

Kabob-ster is located in a small shopping center on Gunbarrel Road close to the East Brainerd Road intersection.

Kabob-ster is decorated with deep yellow, orange and pale green décor, which fits nicely with the rich, savory flavors of the Middle Eastern culture, said officials. The menu includes original cooked-to-order Middle Eastern dishes such as beef, ground beef and lamb, chicken and vegetarian kabobs. Spices can be added to an order to make it extra hot.  Middle Eastern wraps such as gyro, falafel, hummus, chicken shawarma and beef shawarma are also part of the menu.  Sides and starters include homemade hummus, baba ghanouj, burek (stuffed Pita), feta cheese spring rolls and stuffed grape leaves.  For lighter fare, there is tabouli and greek salads and chicken Kabob salad.  The menu is vegetarian friendly.

Kabob-ster is available for dine-in, take-out, and group box lunches. They offer catering and party platters. Hours of operation are 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Place an order by calling 475-5370 or texting 598-2500 and pick-up the order at the drive-thru window.  Visit www.kabob-ster.com for additional information and a copy of the menu.

Roy Exum: Girls - ‘I Can And I Will’

Every night after the Rodriguez girls went to sleep not that long ago in a grim, rat-infested basement apartment on Chicago’s South Side, their father – a boxing referee who came to America from Puerto Rico -- would kneel beside the girls’ bed and whisper in each child’s ear. Their parents made them sleep hot-dog style, tightly wrapped in the same sheet and pressed together to protect ... (click for more)
