Dalton Police Department Investigates Separate Shooting Incident

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Before the shooting that left one man dead and another injured outside the Las Delicias bar on East Morris Street on Sunday, there was a separate shooting incident in Dalton on Saturday night.

Dalton detectives are investigating this case and are working to determine if the two incidents were related.  At this time, investigators do not believe that the two incidents are connected.

The shooting was reported to police at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the area of Fredrick Street. The victim, Julian Hosea Moore, 21, told investigators that he and his friends were walking across Meeting Street when a dark-colored SUV pulled up with several people inside.  One of the people in the SUV asked if the group had any PCP.

After telling the man that they did not have any drugs, Mr. Moore and his friends cut through a field towards Fredrick Street. Mr. Moore told investigators that a Hispanic man then got out of the car and ran towards him and shot him in the shoulder. Mr. Moore told investigators that his friends, who he refused to identify, ran away and left him.

He told investigators that he then went to a home at 219 Fredrick Street where the resident called 911.

An investigation into the incident began immediately. Mr. Moore was transported to Hamilton Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

After the shooting at Las Delicias, investigators considered whether the two incidents may have been related and the available information indicated that the two incidents were separate.

This incident is being investigated by the Dalton Police Department.  At this time, no charges have been filed.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Detective Chris Tucker at 706 278-9085, ext. 165.
