Pair Charged In Burglary On Kirby Avenue After Neighbor Alerts Police

A couple was charged in a burglary on Kirby Avenue after a neighbor alerted police that a break-in was in progress.

Quanita McMath, 31, and Terry Dewayne Maddox, 29, are charged with aggravated burglary and theft. They reside on Vance Avenue.

The neighbor said he saw Ms. McMath come out of the basement of his next-door neighbor carrying a battery jumper box. Maddox was standing near the entrance to the basement.

A patrol officer located the pair nearby on S. Hawthorne. He said they had items taken from the basement in a city trash bin. The items included a $60 jumper box, a $600 well pump and a $20 extension cord.

The resident, Bryan Dyer, arrived on the scene and identified the items. They were returned to him.

The couple were taken to jail.
