Fire At Homewood Suites Causes Minimal Damage

A small fire caused minimal damage at the Homewood Suites on Tuesday.

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded with six companies at 1:30 p.m., to a reported fire at Homewood Suites, 2250 Center St.

Upon arrival, Captain Ed Jackson with Quint 8 was advised by building maintenance that they had put out a small fire in a service room on the fourth floor with a portable extinguisher.

The building had minimal fire and smoke damage, but received water damage to several rooms from the activation of the sprinkler system. The occupants were allowed to return after the firefighters removed the smoke from the building. No injuries were reported.

Damages to the structure were estimated at $10,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Apartment Dryer Fire Displaces 18 People

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a fire shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the Rustic Village North at 4616 Sunflower Lane. The firefighters got the fire out quickly, containing the fire to the laundry room in Apartment 304. No one was injured.
