True Respect

  • Thursday, March 27, 2014

Treating people with respect should come natural. Otherwise it's not real. It comes across as shallow, empty and void of any true substance; an unnatural thing to the observer-- or its intended recipient(s). It gives the appearance of being phony and forced when someone has to come along and remind you, teach you even, to respect another.

It's like having integrity or a moral compass. Either you naturally have them or you don't. It's not something that's learned, taught....It's about having a conscious. Otherwise when you think no one is watching, or company leaves, those same individual(s) tend to resort back to their old habits.

It's difficult to trust their sincerity. Someone attempting to judge you without first knowing all the facts, one must always consider the source and why they attempt to stick labels on you like sticky notes when they don't remotely have a clue.

When someone has to come along and remind you to treat another with the respect you'd want to be treated with, what's in place to prevent the individual(s) from going back to their same old ways when another person comes along to instruct otherwise or the extreme opposite of "respect?"

People can say all the vile and nasty things they want about me. They don't know me and for that I'm grateful, because those who do know me come from many walks of life, many nationalities and  many shades and hues and their friendships are genuine and sincere.

Philip J. Bailey once said "Respect is what we owe; love, is what we give."
