Appalling Debate Behavior

  • Sunday, March 30, 2014

As a school board member representing District 7, I must honestly say that I was extremely disappointed and appalled at the behavior of a certain ‘gentleman’s’  behavior at the East Hamilton District 7 debate.

Sitting directly behind him, I witnessed behavior and verbal snickering that was unbecoming of anyone attending a political debate.  Verbally taunting a candidate’s wife during the debate was uncalled for, not to mention that it set a bad example for those very students who were hosting the debate. They did take note of this behavior.

As a representative of this district, I would personally like to apologize to my students for the unbecoming, embarrassing behavior exhibited during that debate and would hope that those students who are interested in following local politics are not tainted by the performance they witnessed on Thursday night.

I also hope that young, aspiring, future politicians will try to overlook such immature behavior and be mindful not to be hurtful with their words and actions.
