Appalling Debate Behavior

Sunday, March 30, 2014

As a school board member representing District 7, I must honestly say that I was extremely disappointed and appalled at the behavior of a certain ‘gentleman’s’  behavior at the East Hamilton District 7 debate.

Sitting directly behind him, I witnessed behavior and verbal snickering that was unbecoming of anyone attending a political debate.  Verbally taunting a candidate’s wife during the debate was uncalled for, not to mention that it set a bad example for those very students who were hosting the debate. They did take note of this behavior.

As a representative of this district, I would personally like to apologize to my students for the unbecoming, embarrassing behavior exhibited during that debate and would hope that those students who are interested in following local politics are not tainted by the performance they witnessed on Thursday night.

I also hope that young, aspiring, future politicians will try to overlook such immature behavior and be mindful not to be hurtful with their words and actions.

Two weeks ago four of us piled in a car to go down to Canton, Ga., so we could tell Jake Butcher goodbye. Bob McKamey, former mayor Ron Littlefield, a dazzling guy named Steve Wilson, and myself. Sometimes ... (click for more)

Lookouts Rally Falls Short In Sunday's 6-4 Loss At Mobile

MOBILE, Ala.  -- Sherman Johnson hit a two-run double in the second inning, and Alberto Triunfel singled three times as the Mobile BayBears topped the Chattanooga Lookouts 6-4 on Sunday.  Trailing 6-1, the Lookouts rallied for three runs in the eighth inning but that would be all for the night.
