Kenny Smith Puts The County Above Partisan Politics

  • Monday, March 31, 2014

As a Republican it is very few times that I endorse a Democrat for any position. However I have known Kenny Smith for over 40 years, back to when he played basketball and baseball for Chattanooga High School. And I have known his wife Sammye virtually her entire life, going back to when both of our families were members of First Baptist Church. Kenny is a person of integrity and character and a devoted family man who would be a great representative for his district.

Kenny showed as School Board chairman that he puts the good of the county above partisan politics. As a member of the IBEW he was greatly responsible for creating their apprenticeship program that trains young people for the job demands of the 21st Century. Under his leadership the IBEW works in partnership with contractors and employers and is a valued member of our community. Kenny would work with County Mayor Jim Coppinger in the best interests of our county.

I encourage everyone in the 8th District to vote for Kenny Smith as their commissioner.
